Our consulting philosophy is based on the principle of Unity in Diversity. This concept refers to unity among people without uniformity or fragmentation. A focus on Unity in Diversity helps us to shift from unity based on a mere tolerance of physical, cultural, linguistic, social, religious, political, ideological or other differences towards a more complex unity based on an understanding that difference enriches human interactions.
Our approach to this work begins with careful consideration of the client’s present state and desired future state. We understand that equity, diversity and inclusion work is different for every individual and organization; before beginning any training or planning activities, we work with team members to identify the key issues and related goals for the project. We also help leaders determine where the organization might be along the diversity continuum. This assessment, and all work that follows, includes candid conversations and customized activities based on theory and promising practices in the field. We work with clients to help purposefully integrate diversity and inclusion strategies and tactics within existing (or forthcoming) organizational plans such as strategic plans, management plans, budgets and funding proposals.
Equity, diversity and inclusion is not a one-time project, it is an ongoing effort that should continue beyond the consultation period. We employ a coaching approach, such that at the conclusion of our work, your organization will have earnestly begun the process of infusing a culture of Unity in Diversity within its culture. Throughout each phase of the project, we place intention on strategies for flexibility, adaptability, performance monitoring and continuous improvement, that will help the organization consistently set, track and achieve its equity, diversity and inclusion goals over the long-term.
